I’d say Gov. Palin has room for improvement, as would anyone only one month after being tapped as the vice presidential nominee. Watch the interview and you’ll notice a pattern of hard questions loaded with the sort of “gosh, conservatives are neanderthals” condescension you might expect from the mainstream media. Any “gaffes” from Gov. Palin usually come from the awkwardness of having to balance her views with McCain Campaign talking points. Contrast that with Joe Biden, whose foot-in-mouth foibles are voluntarily induced.
One exchange from the video caught my attention. Rather than ask Gov. Palin how she feels about abortion in the case of rape or incest, she posed a hypothetical combining the two: suppose the father of a 15-year-old girl rapes her–should she not be allowed to perform an abortion?
Thing is, the Supreme Court’s “evolving standards of decency” wouldn’t allow for the father to be put to death for his crime. So why should the baby die? Can you answer me that, Ms. Couric?
