Obama 2001: Tying Redistribution to Civil Rights

By cackcon

Drudge has the link to this shockingly honest audio from Obama in 2001.

Obama’s been wanting to spread the wealth for years, it seems.

This audio may be particularly damaging to Obama because his redistributive mentality is explicitly tied to the Civil Rights movement.  Whether it be reparations or what have you, it’s a policy most Americans would thumb their noses at.

Finally, it should be noted that a President Obama would also have some opportunity to shape the federal courts in such a way as to bring about a new wave of liberal legislation from the bench which will last for years to come.

Think twice, America.  Please think twice!

UPDATE: Michelle is all over this, of course.  She quotes a few paragraphs from the story’s original source, as well.  Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey highlights the audio of Obama describing the Warren Court as too conservative.  Yikes!

SECOND UPDATE: Does this finally make Jeremiah Wright relevant again? (video here, here, and here)  I mean, isn’t Obama’s entire agenda directed toward making the United States government correct some sort of unbalance between whites and blacks?  The sort of unbalance which, as we’re told by Pastor Wright, results from the government giving AIDS to minorities?

THIRD UPDATE: Geraghty wonders whether Obama would’ve made it very far if his slogan all along had been “Redistrubitive Change We Can Believe In.”

FOURTH UPDATE: Jennifer Rubin provides some added discussion from Commentary here.

FIFTH UPDATE: Bill Whittle writes that Obama was not eight years old when this bomb went off.

ONE FINAL UPDATE: Please, my fellow conservatives out there, don’t let this bombshell go to waste by dwelling on the issue of the courts.  The quotes aren’t even that damning when it comes to the judiciary–just suggestive, really, of what we already know about Obama’s propensity to nominate liberal judges.

Instead, these comments from Obama are all about race, pure and simple.  He has already warned us that he wants to spread the wealth; now, he’s tied his message of “redistributive change” explicitly to racial disparities.
