Senator Ted Stevens (R, AK) has asked Alaska voters to “stand with me,” according to CNN.
I may not be an Alaska voter, but my reply would be this: No thanks, Ted. I think I’ll stand over here with Senator McCain.
There’s nothing conservative about corruption, Ted. Nothing. We here at C4M will be too busy rooting for the real reformer from Alaska to worry about your electoral fate. Even if it means a filibuster-proof Senate (which, as Morrissey reminds us, was at least partly the fault of the GOP for acquiescing in Stevens’ re-election bid). In the event of a worst-case scenario, the “clean” Republicans will be back to fight in 2010 and 2012.
(Of course, speaking of Teds, we here at C4M will also be waiting–very patiently–for a CNN report on this story.)
UPDATE: Here’s Colin Powell standing by Ted, eight days before he endorsed Obama over his longtime friend Senator McCain.
Are they selling Stevens-brand Kool-Aid now, too?
