Reappearances…

There was a promise of a return of good commentary.

Another Goodbye

November 5, 2008

I think we did all we could for the good of the Country. I know people will see me on the internet again soon, after a little break.

Folks, we did all we could with what we were given. May God bless America.

If the projections hold up…

November 4, 2008

America has elected the most liberal, most socialist, most pro-abortion, and most radical president ever.

What have we done?

Coming Up On Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri

November 4, 2008

Remember, we’ll know early on if Obama’s on his way to a big victory.  If Mac can leap most of these early hurdles, the night will stretch a bit long.

UPDATE: Early, early call from NBC News on Penn–handing it to Obama.  Ouch.  How could it possibly have been that big a blowout?  Will Ohio fall next?  Does no one in Pennsylvania watch the news?  To the Dems, they’re all bitter gun-clinging racist rednecks.  Maybe they wanted to prove otherwise by jumping on Senator Hope ‘n Change’s bandwagon?

Ohio, WV & NC Polls Closing at 7:30 p.m.

November 4, 2008

WV is in McCain’s column for certain.

Ohio and NC, in addition to Virginia and Indiana from 7 p.m., will be the four key states from the first hour.

UPDATE: Mac wins WV according to Fox News.

SECOND UPDATE: Senator Dole is lagging behind McCain and McCrory in the precincts reported so far.  I have to think this bodes very, very poorly for her re-election chances.  (Kay Hagan, though, won’t last more than a single term believe you me.)  UPDATED: Fox News confirms this seat change.

Virginia, Indiana, Georgia & SC Soon to Come

November 4, 2008

Folks, it won’t take too long before we get a sense of where this election is headed.  Preferrably, McCain would sweep these four and, at worst, would only lose Virginia.

Polls closed in the above states a few minutes ago.  Let the tabulation begin!

UPDATE: SC for McCain.

McCain Takes Kentucky; Obama Nabs Vermont

Foxnews has its first projections posted; CNN concurs.

Pentagon: Briefing of President-elect to Begin Immediately After Election

November 4, 2008

Because, if Obama wins, he’s going to be tested.  Isn’t that right, Joe?

Story here.

The piece also mentions the need for a “smooth wartime transition” between presidents.  Funny, I didn’t even know we were still in a war, what with the hysterical coverage of every dip and dive of the stock market.

Obama Thanks Supporters–i.e., The Press

November 4, 2008

Like the winner of an Academy Award, Barack Obama, the biggest celebrity ever to grace Capitol Hill with his presence, made certain to thank those who helped him get there: the media.

“It’s been a good long ride with all of you,” the Illinois senator said. “Whatever happens tomorrow (Tuesday) it’s going to be extraordinary and you guys have shared this process with us.”

He also acknowledged that there was “sometimes friction” between the campaign and the press.  But most observers knew he was actually thinking of the gruelling interview he was given by Joe the Plumber.

UPDATE: No word on whether Obama took time to thank this guy, who apparently voted at the same precinct, along with Farrakhan.

Re: Predictions

November 4, 2008

I think I’m with Steyn on how today will go (scroll to bottom of page).  I already published my electoral college prediction–boldly optimistic for an extremely narrow McCain victory.  But it’s vital that we consider these words from Steyn:

The one prediction I can make with confidence is that we won’t get the result we should get — which is a McGovern-esque candidate going down to a McGovern-sized defeat. Instead, we face three options: an Obama landslide or a narrower Obama win, both of which would be bad for the nation and the world; or a narrow McCain victory, which would be bad for our already diseased politics and seems likely to unhinge even further the Democratic Party base, which isn’t good for civilized political discourse.

I, for one, did not enjoy the last four years–especially–of the Bush hate from supposedly more “civilized” folks on the Left.  So, Obama lovefest versus McCain hate–a veritable Hobbson’s choice, yes?

Must-read Polling Analysis on Election Eve

November 3, 2008

Think Obama’s got it in the bag?  Why?  Because the polls tell you this?

What if the polls were way, way off?

If you’re looking for some good news, read this analysis from Geraghty’s guru “Obi Wan” all the way through.  This stuff ain’t coming from thin air–but I’ll let him explain it to you.

Obama Versus Obama

You gonna believe him, or those lyin’ eyes of yours?

Flip Me the Bird Once . . .

November 3, 2008

Alright, count me in with those who think Obama was flipping off Senator Clinton during the primary race.

Why?  Because here he is again, doing the same thing to McCain.

Barack Obama, changing the tone in Washington with his post-partisan ways.

H/T: Drudge.

UPDATE: Here’s the video of Obama’s salute to Hillary.

Thank you

Time to Shovel on a Little More Coal

November 3, 2008

The Ohio Coal Association responds to Senator Government.

H/T “Swamp Yankee” at Red State.

If West Virginia weren’t already in the bag for McCain, this would’ve clinched it–as evidenced by the reaction here.

But could this new revelation also tip the scales in states like . . . Colorado?

Take a gander at Mason-Dixon’s battleground polling here and you’ll start to see the potential impact of Obama’s recent comments.  And if you haven’t heard them yet, you can now watch the video here.  Pass it along to everyone you can.

UPDATE: Palin’s on the move in “coal country.”  One problem with the story is that it suggests the media has not suppressed the comments and calls Palin’s allegations to the contrary “false.”  However, I read somewhere (sorry, I forget where now) that even though the video/audio links were posted by the San-Fran Chronicle, no transcript had ever been made, such that it would be near impossible for someone to discover what was said through reasonable inquiry.  That’s not the textbook definition of a cover-up, see The LA Times on Khalidi, but it’s not exactly transparency, either.

Nadler: Obama Lacked the Courage to Leave Jeremiah Wright’s Church

November 3, 2008

Democratic Congressman Jerrold Nadler of New York, while campaigning for Obama, has criticized “The One” for not having the courage to walk out of Jeremiah Wright’s church sooner.  ABC News reports on the story initially posted by Atlas Shrugs.  Here’s the video:

So good of Congressman Nadler to inject Pastor Wright into the last news cycle before Americans go to the polls, especially since it hurts Obama without reflecting on McCain as a negative attack.

My friends, this year, instead of sending letters up to Santa Claus at the North Pole, we may be sending thank-you letters to New York.

Don’t tell me Jeremiah Wright doesn’t matter!

Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations (for Obama)

October 31, 2008

Apparently, the Obama campaign intends to hit the breaks on all that messiah worship in the event he’s actually elected.

Because, you know, we wouldn’t want Americans to feel like their president-elect was going to do a good job or anything.

Speaking of lowered expectations, I could give you at least a couple of examples where Obama & Co. are already laying the groundwork for making us think less of him (here and here).
